What is Scar revision?

The face is an aesthetically important area. Scars, however, are visible signs that remain after a wound has healed. They are the unavoidable results of injury or surgery, and their development can be unpredictable. Poor healing may contribute to scars that are obvious or unsightly. Even a wound that heals well can result in a scar that affects your appearance. Scars often remain on the skin after an operation, burn or injury. Diseases such as acne can also leave traces. However, scar revision surgery will attempt to minimize a scar so that it is less conspicuous and blends in with the surrounding skin tone and texture.

Our range of treatments includes the surgical correction of conspicuous scars. We also help you to improve your appearance after injuries, accidents, or even unsightly healed surgical scars. In uncomplicated cases, the scar is first removed completely. Then the wound edges are re-sewn together in several layers, so that a beautiful wound closure is achieved without tension on the skin. For this we use special cutting and suturing techniques.

In the case of extensive scars, we use various methods. In suture flap surgery, adjacent healthy skin is relocated so that the defect skin is covered. If scars do not heal, we can also remove the unstable area and transplant a superficial layer of skin from another part of the body (skin graft).
